The June 4th AMW event with Ruth Todd in SLC was a everything that I had expected and hoped for. There were about 50 people in attendance. Before Ms. Todd’s presentation we had a little time to get to know some of the women and I was impressed that so many had graduate degrees, and of course everyone was exceptionally bright. It was refreshing to meet with a group of Mormon women whose commonality was professional careers. Ms. Todd’s topic was taking the long view – in life and in all things. She was engaging, optimistic, very approachable and had a lot of insight into how to manage work stress as well as managing career and family. She offered a Q&A after her presentation and she handled each question with grace a great deal of insight into the complexities of life and career. For more than an hour after Ms. Todd’s presentation the room buzzed with the meeting of new friends, catching up with old ones and networking job opportunities. Several name cards exchanged hands as many were either seeking to find new career opportunities or offering to help someone that was. I came away energized after meeting so many Mormon women who are career minded.
